Got to work this morning and after a coffee and a quick check of the emails, I decided to put on the headphones and go through some of the old (ish) mashups I haven’t had time to listen to over the last couple of months.
The term “mashup” can cover a mirriad of different genres / styles, and therefore what constitutes a “good mashup” is just as varied (and personal). Sometimes it’s the production skills, sometimes the combination of music used, sometimes it’s just that fact that the mix shouldn’t work…. but it does! Sometimes it’s none of those things.
Anyway, I came accross this track “Waiting For Bulletproof At First Sight”, by DEEP/BLK vs. Marc Johnce. The insanely infectious “Love At First Sight” by Kylie Minogue, with vox from La Roux (Bulletproof) and Gwen Stefani (What You Waiting For)… IMHO this is the version that should have been… lucky for me it now is!
It’s also part of a compliation put toether by Simon Iddol called “Guilty Pleasures by APC – Volume Five BOOTLEGPROOF? bastard pop tribute to La Roux”.
Regualr listeners to Felix Five Drive, will recognise Simon as the creator of Audioporn Central (and WHA!).
